Ben Franklin Middle School is a wonderful place where students are loved, supported, and challenged. Together we work hard, practice kindness, and have fun! As an educator in the Valparaiso Community School district for 25 years, I have always valued the relationships formed with kids and families and I look forward to developing lifelong relationships with you, our Ben Franklin families. My daughter, Sydney, is in her third year of college at Indiana University, and my son, Sam, is a 11th grader at Valparaiso High School. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, running, and reading. I love being a part of the Valparaiso community and I look forward to seeing you throughout the year at both school and community events. Mr. Nick Slater, Assistant Principal
Benjamin Franklin Middle SchooI has a wonderful family feel and I am super excited to be starting my 5th year as the Assistant Principal at BFMS. Some of our main goals here at BFMS are to provide a foundation of skills to help all our students improve academically, socially, and emotionally within our school. It is our goal to provide a safe and fun environment for our students to help prepare our students to be successful in a variety of aspects of life.

Some of our main goals here at BFMS are to provide a foundation of skills to help all our students improve academically, socially, and emotionally within our school. I have been in education for over ten years all here at Valparaiso Community Schools. My family is surrounded by educators as my wife is a former secondary English teacher. My daughter, Bella, is in 11th grade at VHS and my son, Jackson, is a 6th grader at BFMS. My youngest son, Colson, is in Kindergarten at Memorial Elementary. I am also fortunate enough to be the handler for one of VCS Therapy Dogs. Zoe is at BFMS everyday to help our students in many different aspects of learning. Please welcome Zoe this school year!
In my free time I enjoy spending time at the lake with my family, attending sporting events, and contributing to many different Valparaiso Community events. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if I can be of any assistance.
